Ian Woosnam is excited to return to Lighthouse Golf Resort and Spa for next month’s European Tour Properties Senior Classic, taking place on the picturesque coastline of Bulgaria, from September 7-9.
The 1991 Masters Tournament Champion assisted in the design of the Championship Course at Lighthouse having first visited the resort in 2005.
Woosnam, 60, is a five-time Staysure Tour winner and is eager to see how the course in the Balkan country has developed over the years.
“I’m really looking forward to returning to Bulgaria, especially to see how the course at Lighthouse has developed over the past few years.
“Our aim was always to make it a course open and playable for all golfers.
“I remember our first trip back in November 2005 when we attended the traditional Ground Blessing and Breaking Ceremony and experienced some traditional and memorable Bulgarian hospitality.”
The event will see the return of the Staysure Tour’s popular Alliance format, which gives amateur golfers the opportunity to be at the heart of the action as they take part in their own competition alongside the professionals who are competing for a €250,000 prize fund.
In addition, the Resort recently joined European Tour Properties’ extensive network of world class venues, giving amateur golfers the once-in-a-lifetime chance to play alongside a Masters Champion at a stunning venue.

Lighthouse Golf Resort and Spa is nestled on the coast of the Black Sea in the Bulgarian resort of Balchik, just 45 minutes from Varna airport.
A limited number of Alliance places can be purchased, and the package includes: a gift bag, commemorative signed photo with your professional golfer, full catering, airport transfers and accommodation and a social reception with prizes for teams finishing first to third.
Places in the Pro-Am taking place on Wednesday September 5 and Thursday September 6, before the tournament begins on Friday September 7, are also available.
Pro-Am prices start from €975 and Alliance prices start from €2,325 – with a 20 per cent discount if booked before July 16.
