• His first European Tour International Schedule victory in his 181st European Tour event.

• Moves to €447,609 in The Race to Dubai. This figure is a career-high for him, beating the €423,513 he won in 2010.

• His victory beats his previous best European Tour performance of tied second in the 2005 Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.

• This victory beats his previous best 2011 performance of tied fifth in the Sicilian Open.

• The second first-time winner of the 2011 season. They are: Nick Watney (WGC – Cadillac Championship) and Nicolas Colsaerts (Volvo China Open).

• Becomes just the second Belgian golfer to win on The European Tour, following Phillipe Touissant at the 1974 Benson and Hedges International Open. The 37 year gap is the biggest in European Tour for a country winning their first and second titles.

• Wins a place in the 2011 Volvo World Match Play Championship.

• His winning 72 hole total of 264 (-24) is the lowest total and lowest total in relation to par in the history of the Volvo China Open.

• Victory comes in the second event he has led in after 54 holes on The European Tour. The first was the 2005 Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles, where he finished tied second.

• Moves to just outside the top 100 in the Official World Golf Ranking, from 175th.
