• His winning total of 268 (-20) is the lowest winning total in relation to par in Major Championship history. This beats the previous best of Tiger Woods, who was 19 under par in winning the Open Championship at St Andrews in 2000.

• Won after leading going into the final round. This was the third successive Major Championship he had led going into the final round.

• Becomes the 20th victory by a non-American player in US PGA Championship history.

• Becomes the 15th different non-American player to win the US PGA Championship.

• Becomes the sixth non-American victory in the last eight years in the US PGA Championship. They are: Padraig Harrington (2008), Y E Yang (2009), Martin Kaymer (2010), Rory McIlroy (2012 and 2014) and Jason Day (2015).
