• The fifth multiple winner of the 2014 European Tour season. They are: Rory McIlroy (BMW PGA Championship, The 143rd Open Championship, WGC – Bridgestone Invitational and US PGA Championship), Miguel Angel Jiménez (Hong Kong Open – Dec 13), Open de España), Alexander Levy (Volvo China Open and Portugal Masters), Mikko Ilonen (Irish Open and Volvo World Match Play Championship) and Bubba Watson (Masters Tournament and WGC – HSBC Champions).
• The first time he has won twice in the same European Tour season.
• His first WGC victory in his 16th WGC appearance.
• This victory beats his previous best WGC finishes of second in the 2012 WGC – Cadillac Championship and tied second in the 2014 WGC – Cadillac Championship.
• Victory comes in his third appearance in the WGC – Champions.
• Victory beats his previous best WGC – HSBC Champions finish of tied eighth in 2013.
• The third left-hander to win a WGC event, following Mike Weir (2000 WGC – Cadillac Championship) and Phil Mickelson (2009 WGC – Cadillac Championship and 2009 WGC – HSBC Champions).
• Becomes the 15th different player to win a Major Championship and a WGC title.

• This marks the first time since 2011 that all four WGC winners would be first-time WGC winners. They were: Luke Donald (WGC – Accenture Match Play Championship), Nick Watney (WGC – Cadillac Championship), Adam Scott (WGC – Bridgestone Invitational) and Martin Kaymer (WGC – HSBC Champions).
• Becomes the 22nd victory by a left-hander in European Tour history.
• Joins Francesco Molinari (2010), Martin Kaymer (2011) and Dustin Johnson (2013), as players to make the WGC – HSBC Champions their first WGC title.
• Becomes the sixth different player to win the WGC – HSBC Champions in the six years since the event was given WGC status and third American following Phil Mickelson (2009) and Dustin Johnson (2013).
• Becomes the 30th different player to win a WGC event in the 53rd playing of an individual WGC event.
• Becomes the 14th different American to win a WGC title.
• Becomes the 33rd American victory in WGC history.

• Becomes the fourth American victory on The European Tour in 2014. They are: Patrick Reed (WGC – Cadillac Championship), Bubba Watson (Masters Tournament and WGC – HSBC Champions) and David Lipsky (Omega European Masters).
• Becomes the 197th American victory in European Tour history.
• Wins his second European Tour play-off from his three European Tour play-offs he has played.
• Is the first winner of the WGC – HSBC Champions via a play-off.
• Becomes the second player to win on The 2014 European Tour International Schedule after making an eagle on the 72nd hole. The first was Felipe Aguilar at The Championship at Laguna National, who held his second shot for an eagle two.
• Becomes the first player to hole a putt for an eagle three at the final hole to force a play-off and win the play-off, since Brett Rumford at the 2013 Ballantine’s Championship.
• Became the first player in European Tour history to hole a third shot for an eagle on the final hole to force a play-off and win a play-off.
• Became the first player to hole a bunker shot on the final hole for an eagle three and win since Mike Harwood at the 1989 PLM Open.
• Began the final round two shots behind Graeme McDowell. Is the 24th winner this season to make up a final round deficit to win.
• Gains a place in the 2015 WGC – Bridgestone Invitational and 2015 WGC – HSBC Champions.
• His third victory of 2014, following the Waste Management Open and Masters Tournament.
• His eighth victory as a professional.
