The previous record was set by Tom Kite. The American’s previous record was 16 years and 36 days between the 1980 European Open Championship and 1996 Oki Pro-Am.

• Played in 430 European Tour events between victories.

• This number of 430 events between victories is the most in European Tour history. This beats the previous record of most official European Tour events played between victories of 276 of Christy O’Connor Jnr, between the 1975 Carrolls Irish Open and 1992 Jersey European Airways Open.

• This victory beats his previous best 2016 European Tour finish of tied third in the Joburg Open.

• This victory beats his previous best finishes since his 2000 win of second on seven occasions.

• This victory comes in his second appearance in the Aberdeen Asset Management Paul Lawrie Match Play.

• This victory beats his previous best finish in the Aberdeen Asset Management of tied 33in 2015.

• His first European Tour victory in the 2000 Alfred Dunhill Championship came in his 57th European Tour event.
