Williams takes narrow Sharjah lead after Thursday morning session

South Africa's Chris Williams is the current clubhouse leader after carding a seven under par round of 65 at the inaugural Sharjah Senior Golf Masters presented by Shurooq.

The 57 year old carded two eagles and five birdies during his round to take a one shot lead over 2016 Senior Tour Rookie of the Year Magnus P Atlevi and debutant Clark Dennis, who earned his card at Senior Tour Qualifying School just last month.

A shot further back, in a share of fourth place, are André Bossert and Miguel Angel Martin on five under par at Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club.

In a share of eighth or better of the golfers who have finished their first rounds are four winners from the 2016 season including Atlevi, Bossert, Stephen Dodd, on four under par, Barry Lane, on three under.
