Willett triumph inspires Fleetwood

Tommy Fleetwood is taking inspiration from countryman Danny Willett as he looks to make it third time lucky at Genzon Golf Club at this week's Shenzhen International.

The English duo finished 2014 separated by one just one place in the Official World Golf Ranking, with Willett 51st and Fleetwood 52nd, but since then Willett has moved into the top ten.

The Sheffield native capped his meteoric rise by claiming the Green Jacket at the Masters Tournament ten days ago, his fourth European Tour title in two seasons following his maiden win at the BMW International Open in 2012.

Fleetwood has yet to follow up on his first win at the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles in 2013, but has finished second and third in the past two seasons at Genzon, and is eager to get his own World Ranking on an upward trajectory from its current position of 93rd.

"He's done amazingly well, and people take different times to mature," he said. "I've obviously gone through a rough patch with my game and he's obviously gone through a very good patch. Hopefully my time will come, but I think he's definitely a very good example to watch.

"I think he goes about his business very well and you can learn a lot from him. He's just put his name in history. If I can repeat him in a year or two, I'll be very happy.

When you know somebody that's done it and you've played with them, it obviously gives you a massive motivation to go on and try and do that yourself - Tommy Fleetwood

Fleetwood finished one shot outside of a play-off at last season's Shenzhen International which was won by Kiradech Aphibarnrat, and believes he has the game to challenge again on the 6,534-yard layout.

"Last year hurt," he said. "I played brilliantly last year and felt like I should have won by a few, and I ended up needing birdie on the last. So yeah, I do feel like there might be a bit of unfinished business. But you never know.

"I think after last year, when I felt like I should have won, it would be nice to come back and actually finish it off."

Victor Dubuisson arrives in China hoping to turn some encouraging performances into results after a quiet start to the season.

The Frenchman began the campaign with a tie for fourth at the Nedbank Golf Challenge but has played just six events as he manages his schedule in a busy season.

The two-time Turkish Airlines Open winner, who turns 26 on Friday, is already looking towards The Ryder Cup and the Olympic Games later in the summer, and is hoping to kick-start his season in Shenzhen.

"I'm feeling good," he said. "I've played okay this season. I didn't make some really good results, but my game is starting to be good."

Dubuisson made his Ryder Cup debut in the European victory at Gleneagles in 2014 and is eager to feature again in the atmosphere of an away tie at Hazeltine.

"It's one of my biggest goals," he added. "Of course, playing The Ryder Cup in America, it will be amazing. It's really my favourite tournament in the world."
