Willett joins Wood out in front

Chris Wood's two shot lead disappeared in one early hole on the final day of the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club.

A double-bogey six at the 465 yard third, where he drove into trouble and then had two in a greenside bunker, dropped the 22 year old from Bristol to six under par.

It meant a three-way tie with fellow debutant Danny Willett and Swede Robert Karlsson, but Karlsson then missed a six foot par putt on the same hole.

They were all chasing a first prize of €750,000, a five-year European Tour exemption and, in the case of Wood and Willett, a place in next month's US Open Championship as well.

When Willett two-putted the long fourth for birdie he led by one, but the Sheffield 22 year old failed to get up and down from sand on the sixth and at that point seven players were separated by a stroke.

Joint leaders were Willett, Wood and South African James Kingston, and one behind came English pair Luke Donald and Simon Khan, Scot Stephen Gallacher and Swede Fredrik Andersson Hed.
