Willett backs Omega European Masters Great Golf Times campaign

This year will mark the 70th edition of the OMEGA European Masters at Golf Club Crans-sur-Sierre in Crans Montana, Switzerland, making it the longest running golf tournament at the same venue in Europe and second in the world after the Masters Tournament at Augusta National.

Exactly five weeks before the start of the tournament, this significant landmark was celebrated across dedicated digital channels, including YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, in a campaign that glorifies golfing memories since 1939 –the #GreatGolfTimes.

The #GreatGolfTimes campaign commemorates the rich history around the tournament and the game of golf by curating a timeline that will exhibit the milestones, the records and the moments that have shaped them both.

It won’t just be about showcasing the moments of glory, the iconic challenges or the revered heroes; it will also look at the sportsmanship, the skill, the fashion and the beauty associated with the game.

As part of the campaign, the pro golfers playing the tournament this year, including Lee Westwood, Matt Fitzpatrick and last year’s winner Danny Willett, will share intimate memories from their past and fans will be encouraged to share their golfing moments too in order to build up the timeline hosted on the tournament’s website www.omegaeuropeanmasters.com.

Danny Willett said: “The OMEGA European Masters is one of the most historic events on the golfing circuit and I’m looking forward to taking part again this year, their 70th year at Crans-sur-Sierre. The 2016 Great Golf Times campaign will be a nostalgic one for us all and it’s a great opportunity to share some personal memories whilst learning even more about this tournament and the game of golf.”

Yves Mittaz, Director of the Tournament, added: “We are delighted to be celebrating 70 years at Crans-Montana and are proud to cement our legacy as the oldest running tournament played at the same venue in Europe. We hope golfing fans all around the world will enjoy the wonderful stories from as far back as 1939 and participate by sharing with us their golf moments too.”
