When GC Gut Lärchenhof, near Cologne, hosted the tournament for the first time in in 2012, Willett claimed his first title as a professional to lay the foundations for what has been a rapid rise into the golfing elite, culminating in his outstanding display at Augusta National a fortnight ago.

Golf fans in Germany can now look forward to seeing the Englishman in action when Willett tees off at Gut Lärchenhof from June 22-26.

“I am really looking forward to the BMW International Open and returning to Cologne,” said Willett.

“I will never forget my win in 2012. That first title will always be very special. It is nice to return to a course where you have enjoyed success in the past. The BMW International Open is a tournament with a positive atmosphere, which is something you really enjoy as a player.”

“We are delighted to be able to present the reigning Masters champion to the crowds in Germany,” said Tournament President Peter van Binsbergen, Head of Sales and Marketing, BMW Group Germany.

“Danny Willett is one of the most intriguing players in the world at the moment, particularly since his impressive performance in Augusta.

“Now in its 28th year, the BMW International Open will once again feature an attractive line-up of players, an extensive programme off the course, and the unique atmosphere that players and spectators all over the world have come to value at BMW golf tournaments.”

Willett will be joined in Cologne by World Number Six Henrik Stenson, five-time Ryder Cup player Sergio García, crowd favourite Miguel Ángel Jiménez, defending champion Pablo Larrazábal, and Austria’s BMW Golfsport Ambassador Bernd Wiesberger. Among those flying the flag for Germany will be BMW Golfsport Ambassadors Max Kieffer and Dominic Foos, as well as Marcel Siem.
