WGC-Bridgestone Invitational day two - What they said

Jimmy Walker will take a two-shot lead into the weekend at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational after firing a brilliant 65 on day two at Firestone Country Club.

Here, we take a look at what some of the leading challengers had to say after their second rounds.

Rory McIlroy (69, -4)

"I fully expected to come here and play well. I felt like my game has been pretty good and I love this place. I've won here, I've played well here. So to be tied third and have a chance going into the weekend, I'm happy with that. I think once we got back out there after the delay, I think everyone was feeling a little bit flat. The players, the spectators, everything just sort of felt a little flat. I didn't help myself by missing a few chances as soon as we came back out here. I needed to just try and keep myself going and luckily found one birdie coming in, wasn't the way I wanted to make birdie but any way will do. So it was a decent score at the end of the day."

Zach Johnson (67, -4)

"I like tough conditions, I guess. I also like perfect conditions, I'm not going to lie to you there. But for some reason, sometimes it brings out the best. Maybe I lower my expectations and just play. I think I'm getting the ball in the fairway a little bit more, I definitely think I'm putting a little better but just scoring. It sounds generic but taking advantage of a great tee shot on a par five, making those key four, five-footers for par or a good up-and-down. Whatever it is, I've just been able to know I'm not going to do it every time but I've been able to manage that a little better."

Russell Knox (71, -3)

"I was flying out of the gates and it was disappointing when weather came in because it just killed my momentum. When I went back out, I had a tough stretch of holes and just didn't feel comfortable, just couldn't get my swing feeling where it was before the rain delay. I putted well, especially at the start, but there was a couple of putts I let slide towards the end there. Both rain delays just killed my momentum and I was disappointed with myself that I wasn't able to reel it in. All in all, I'm still in a good position."

Tommy Fleetwood (68, -2)

"I'm really happy. It's been a tough day in many ways. The wind was up early on so the conditions haven't been easy. The golf course was tough then. It's been stop-start, so it's always difficult to get a rhythm. This is my first year but it seems any time you beat the golf course, that's a tremendous score around this golf course, so very happy to be off with two under."
