Lee Westwood is launching two brand new junior golf initiatives – Lee Westwood Golf Camps and Lee Westwood Golf Tour.
The Englishman hopes that his name will encourage junior golfers to attend the three-day coaching camps which have been successfully trialled at his full-time schools in Cheshire and Essex alongside playing in his Tour for players aged under 21.
The overall winner of the Lee Westwood Golf Camps and the overall winner of the Lee Westwood Golf Tour will get the opportunity to visit the Lee Westwood Golf School in Florida and, schedule permitting, the chance to meet Lee himself and maybe take him on for a few holes!
The Camps and Tours are part of the successful and forever growing Lee Westwood Golf brand. The Lee Westwood Golf School has been a real success since its inception in September 2010 and has grown to include two locations in the UK and one in Florida near to where Lee now resides. The School has seen over 100 students come through its doors and continues to deliver the highest results both on and off the course; including winning the British Schools & Colleges National Championship and delivering over twice the national grade average on the education front.
The former World Number One has committed his team to driving junior golf forward in 2013 and with the three initiatives (Tour, Camps & School) he now spearheads, we are sure it will be a success. Westwood has also gained the support of some of his existing sponsors including PING, Druh Belts & Buckles, Dunlop Collection and UPS who will be providing a variety of prizes, equipment and support across all initiatives.
Westwood said: “I am thrilled that the School has achieved such great results in such a short space of time and expanded to Essex and Florida. This will provide some great opportunities for all the students involved.
“My two new projects [Camps & Tour] are already gaining momentum and I hope that, in collaboration with England Golf and the Golf Foundation, they will help to increase participation in the game. Perhaps one day some of the players will go on to compete against me on the European Tour.”
