Lee Westwood shot a brilliant second round 64 to take control of the Nordea Masters at Bro Hof Slott.
The World Number Three fired eight unanswered birdies as he raced into a three shot clubhouse lead.
The Englishman’s Ryder Cup teammate Peter Hanson and Scotland’s Lloyd Saltman, who matched Westwood’s 64 thanks in no small part to an albatross at the par five 12th, were his closest challengers on nine under.
Swede Hanson carded a 68, with Spaniard Ignacio Garrido, South African Richard Sterne and Dutchman Maarten Lafeber a shot further back on eight under.
“I think in the morning the greens are easier,” said Westwood, who was in the second group out.
“I deserved a 64. You have to be precise around this course.
“It’s nice to be able to play well and put on a bit of a show.”
Hanson had a double bogey at the 11th - his second - but recovered with three birdies in his next four holes.
And when the four-time European Tour winner bogeyed the third he responded well once more with four birdies over the closing stretch.
“I didn’t strike the ball as well as I would have hoped and 68 was a good result,” said Hanson, who captured this tile in 2008 and is looking to make it a Swedish hattrick after Richard S Johnson and Alex Noren won the last two stagings.
Carlos Del Moral was going best of the afternoon wave - the Spaniard carding two birdies in his first five holes to move into the top ten. At six under par he was still six adrift of Westwood, however.
