Lee Westwood has been rewarded for a fantastic year in 2010 with an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
The Englishman ended Tiger Woods' reign as the World Number One and won the St Jude Classic on the US PGA Tour.
He was second four times on The European Tour, including at the Masters Tournament and The Open Championship as he finished third on The Race to Dubai.
The 38 year old was also a key member of Europe’s victorious Ryder Cup Team at The Celtic Manor Resort, winning two and a half points.
Rob Holt, Chief Executive of Ryder Cup Wales 2010 Ltd, has been awarded an OBE for Services to Golf while Jim McKenzie, Director of Golf Course at The Celtic Manor Resort, is made an MBE for Services to Sport.
Holt joined the then Welsh Office in 1985 working on a wide range of projects inside and outside the office including the Wales-Japan festival, local government re-organisation with the Staff Commission and establishing the Carbon Trust in Wales.
From September 2002, he played a key part in establishing Ryder Cup Wales 2010 Ltd following the successful bid by Celtic Manor to host the biennial event between Europe and the United States.
Scots-born McKenzie moved from Wentworth Club in Surrey in 1993 to join Sir Terry Matthews’ fledgling golf operation at Celtic Manor and was responsible for overseeing the birth of The Twenty Ten Course which successfully hosted The 2010 Ryder Cup won by Europe.
