More than five years after his last European Tour victory Steve Webster put himself in contention for a third title at The Nelson Mandela Championship presented by ISPS Handa.
The 37 year old Englishman, playing his 446th European Tour event, had four birdies in his first 12 holes at Royal Durban to reach six under par during the second and final round. Heavy rain earlier in the week had reduced the tournament to 36 holes and seen the course modified to a par 65 layout.
Webster led by one form German Challenge Tour graduate Maximilian Kieffer and overnight joint-leader Tim Clark.
Dane Morten Orum Madsen, who shared top spot with Clark overnight after an opening 60, was one over through five and into a seven-way tie for fourth on four under.
He was joined by England’s David Horsey, Frenchman Julien Quesne, Spaniard Eduardo De La Riva, Argentine Tano Goya, South African Lindani Ndwandwe and – most spectacularly – Scott Jamieson of Scotland.
Jamieson carded a remarkable five under par outward 26, which included four birdie twos on the shortened set-up.
