Romain Wattel is hoping to continue moving in the right direction after an encouraging first two days at the Omega European Masters.
The 21 year old Frenchman sits four behind leader and fellow countryman Julien Quesne, having followed an opening 67 with a second round 70.
His presence at the top end of the leaderboard is no great surprise; Wattel has, after all, featured in the top 20 in each of his last two European Tour starts.
He claimed 18th place at the Lyoness Open powered by Greenfinity, before finishing third at last week’s Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.
“I’m feeling good so I’m just hoping to continue that feeling,” said Wattel.
“I always try my best and at the moment I’m getting some good results.
“I’m in a good position going into the weekend, which is nice. I’m in pretty good shape at the moment; hopefully the next two days are the same.
“I’m just trying to focus on my game. I’m not looking at anything or anyone else. I just want to keep improving.”
Wattel has certainly enjoyed his week at Crans-sur-Sierre thus far.
“Everyone speaks French here, so I feel at home,” he added.
“I like the place - there are some very nice restaurants, so it’s a good week on and off the course.”
What is more, he could yet experience further joy as he seeks a maiden European Tour title.
“The reason we play this game is to play in the last group and give yourself a chance of winning,” he reasoned.
“I'm the same as everyone, so when it's going well it's easy to smile. Hopefully I'll be smiling on Sunday.”
