Wattel closing in on Luiten

France’s Romain Wattel was leading the pursuit of Joost Luiten as the final round of the Lyoness Open powered by Greenfinity began at Diamond Country Club.

Dutchman Luiten went into the final round with a three shot lead after a 67 on Saturday, but missed a short par putt at the first and had his advantage reduced to one when Jorge Campillo made birdie at the same hole.

However, the roles were reversed at the next, and it was left to Wattel – who had three birdies in his first five holes - to move within two.

Meanwhile home favourite Bernd Wiesberger’s US Open dream appeared to be over after a 69 left him outside the top 12, where he needed to finish to climb into the world’s top 60.
