Wang in the hunt for double delight

Jeunghun Wang kept himself right in the hunt for a second consecutive European Tour title as he posted one of just ten under par rounds on day two of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

On another windy day when Four Seasons Golf Club at Anahita bared its teeth, the South Korean followed up his opening 69 with a 70 to sit three shots behind leader Andrew Dodt.

The 20 year old began his round with two pars on the back nine but then went birdie-eagle-birdie to catapult himself up the leaderboard. A dropped shot on the next followed but five consecutive pars steadied the ship before bogeys on the third and sixth.

A brilliant approach to the seventh produced a third birdie of the day before he got up and down for a par save and missed a good birdie chance on the ninth.

And less than a week after entering the winner's circle at the Trophée Hassan II with a play-off victory over Nacho Elvira, Wang concedes that to win again would be "amazing".

"The wind was blowing really hard today and the rain made it even tougher to play out there," he said. "I am happy that I still managed to shoot two under given the testing conditions. I am pleased with where I stand right now but there's still a long way to go.

"I had a great eagle on 13 and that was my turning point for the round. I hit a good second shot but it went into the bunker. I managed to chip it in from about 20 yards with a sixty degree. That got my game going. I sank a two-footer for birdie on the following hole.

"I want to stay consistent till Sunday. If I can continue to play like how I have been playing, I should have a good chance to win again. I think it's possible to win this week.

I will keep trying my best and enjoy myself out there. Two wins in a row would be amazing - Jeunghun Wang

"I will keep it the same for the next two rounds and try to make as many birdies as I can."

Siddikur Rahman was a shot behind Wang after a 72 that saw him twice quickly bounce back from dropped shots, and the Bangladeshi was happy to grind out a score in tough conditions.

"Overall, it was a good round for me," he said. "I hung in there and stayed patient. It was really tough so I am very happy with how I played.

"I have been hitting the ball well. The game was pretty much the same for me today. I just aimed to hit as many fairways and greens as I can.

"You have to think positively playing in this kind of challenging conditions. I managed to do it today."
