World Number One Justin Rose will be joined by Matt Wallace, Paul Dunne and Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnston for a night of action-packed golf at the next edition of the Hero Challenge, which is set to be staged in London’s iconic Canary Wharf on Tuesday October 9.
Taking place during the week of the Sky Sports British Masters, which Rose will host at Walton Heath Golf Club, the bustling financial district will become the latest world-famous destination to host the European Tour’s innovative one-hole shootout following the most recent edition of the Hero Challenge at Edinburgh Castle, won by American Ryder Cup star Matt Kuchar in July.
Wallace, who has three European Tour wins in 2018, reigning Sky Sports British Masters champion Dunne and Fan-favourite Beef and will join World Number One and Olympic Champion Rose for a night of high drama in the English capital and tickets can be securedHEREfor free.
Wallace, 28, has enjoyed an outstanding year on the European Tour with victories at the Hero Indian Open, BMW International Open and latterly Made In Denmark, triumphing in a four-man play-off.
He said: “I’ve watched previous editions of the Hero Challenge and always thought I’d love to give it a go, so I’m buzzing to get involved in Canary Wharf alongside some great guys.”
Dunne will return to Sky Sports British Masters with the aim of becoming the first man to successfully defend the title since Greg Norman in 1981-1982 and he believes the Hero Challenge is the perfect curtain-raiser to the event.
“The Sky Sports British Masters is a huge event and having the Hero Challenge associated with it is fantastic,” Dunne said. “It will be great to have a bit of fun in such an amazing arena.”
Affectionately nicknamed Beef, Johnston is one of the most popular golfers on the European Tour and is excited to return to the Hero Challenge arena for the first time since 2016.
“The Hero Challenge has proven to be a popular concept and I’m really looking forward to taking part,” Johnston said. “The event has grown since I played at The Grove in 2016 and I’m sure the crowds will be as loud as ever, making for a brilliant atmosphere.”
Rose will headline the field after recently becoming only the fourth Englishman to top the Official World Golf Rankings following his runner-up finish at the BMW Championship on the PGA Tour.
Sky Sports British Masters host Rose said: “The Hero Challenge will be the perfect opening to what I hope will be a fantastic week at Walton Heath.

Frenchman Alex Levy was the last man standing when the Hero Challenge made its debut at The Grove in 2016. With the support of Hero MotoCorp Ltd – the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters – a further three editions were played in 2017, at the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open, the British Masters and the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, won by American Patrick Reed, Englishman Lee Westwood and China’s Haotong Li respectively.
The most recent edition was held in the historic setting of Edinburgh Castle prior to the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open in July, where Kuchar triumphed in front of over 4,000 spectators.
