Anthony Wall continued to lead the way on day three of the Sicilian Open, with Raphaël Jacquelin the only man in close proximity at the top of the leaderboard.
Overnight leader Wall picked up birdies at the first and fourth holes to move to 11 under for the tournament before making only his second bogey of the week at the short eighth.
That left him one ahead of Jacquelin, who also birdied the first and fourth, but Richard Green slipped off the pace after dropping three shots on the first two holes.
Green double bogeyed the par four first and then dropped a shot at the second before recovering slightly with a birdie at four.
He was one of ten players tied for seventh on five under, with Phillip Price, José Manuel Lara, Joel Sjöholm and Carlos del Moral a shot closer to the leaders.
Price surged into contention with an eventful third round containing seven birdies and three bogeys, while Lara birdied four of the first seven holes and also picked up a shot on the 12th after bogeying nine for the second day in succession.
Sjöholm, like Wall and Jacquelin, reached the turn in two under, while del Moral birdied the fourth and 12th holes to reach six under with six holes of his round remaining.
Those alongside Green at five under included Scotland’s Peter Whiteford, who was among the pick of the early starters with a flawless 66, Simon Dyson and Alejandro Cañizares.
Ireland’s Peter Lawrie fired five birdies in a 66 of his own and was a shot further back at four under, alongside the likes of Colin Montgomerie and Kenneth Ferrie.
France’s Grégory Bourdy, Spaniard Manuel Quiros and English trio Graeme Storm, Lee Slattery and Steve Lewton all carded rounds of 67 earlier in the day to move to two under.
