Wagner in contention

Challenge Tour player Alan Wagner joined his Argentine compatriot Maxi Godoy and the USA's Cody Slover in a three-way tie for the lead after the opening day of the Pacific Colombia Tour presented by Helm Barranquilla Open.

The trio signed for four under par rounds of 68 in the event co-sanctioned by the Tour de las Americas and the Canadian Tour.

The 21 year old Wagner, who secured his only Challenge Tour win in 2009, carded six birdies and two bogeys.

Both dropped shots came in the first five holes, but Wagner found his rhythm to make five birdies on the remaining thirteen.

He chipped-in from 30 yards at the eighth and closed with consecutive gains.

"I stayed patient and things turned my way," he said. "I struck the ball very well and made some good putts.

"I feel really fortunate about shooting 68 on a day like this."
