With The European Tour currently finalising the schedule for 2014, the tournament is now in a more attractive date, taking place two weeks after the first Major of the season, the Masters Tournament at Augusta National. The Volvo China Open will now be staged April 24th-27th, a week before its previously announced slot.

Being the nation’s true, open championship, the Volvo China Open has grown to be recognised as the most prestigious tournament in the region. And in keeping with the spirit of taking this great event to new and exciting host venues, the challenging course at Genzon Golf Club in Southern China will be a superb test in what is a strong Volvo market.

Retaining last year’s strong prize fund, the championship has been confirmed for a new date which will be one week earlier in the season than its 2013 staging. According to Per Ericsson, President of Volvo Event Management, "Next year we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Volvo China Open and we are hoping to gather a really exciting field. This date suits our businesses well, particularly as the region is so important for Volvo and Shenzhen is one of the most mature golfing areas in China."

Since 1995, Volvo has been involved in the growth of golf in all areas in China - professional, amateur, corporate and junior - and many of its rising stars such as Guan Tian-lang, Ye Wo-cheng and Dou Ze-cheng have entered the world stage via Volvo’s junior programme and then the Volvo China Open.

The 20th staging of the Volvo China Open takes place from April 24th-27th at the beautiful Genzon Golf Club in Shenzhen, Southern China. Volvo was the first western brand to engage with golf in China in 1995 and this will be Volvo’s 82nd tournament on the European Tour. The prize fund is RMB 20 million, (approximately $3.2 million). Volvo is organising the event together with the China Golf Association, which is co-sanctioned by The European Tour and OneAsia.
