This year will be the 106th edition in its history, and is scheduled to be held between Thursday, May 16 through to Sunday, May 19 at Valhalla Golf Club, in the state of Kentucky in the United States.

What is the format of the US PGA Championship?
The US PGA Championship is a 72-hole individual strokeplay tournament contested over four rounds of 18 holes.
Following the first 36 holes of play, the 156-player field will be reduced to the low 70 scorers and ties with those players advancing to compete in the final two rounds.
What is the format should there be a play-off?
In the event of a tie for first place after 72 holes, there will be a three-hole aggregate score play-off on holes 13, 17 and 18. If still tied, there will be a hole-by-hole play-off on hole 18, 13, 17 and 18 repeated.
The last play-off was in 2022, when Justin Thomas overcame fellow American Will Zalatoris to win his second US PGA Championship title.
Who is the defending champion?
Brooks Koepka claimed his third US PGA Championship with a two-shot victory over Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland last year as the American won his fifth major overall.
Who is in the field?
Each of the top 103 players in the Official World Golf Ranking will tee it up in Louisville, Kentucky.
A plethora of DP World Tour members are in the field, including Jesper Svensson who is set for his major debut after receiving an invite from the PGA of America following some impressive results in his rookie season on the DP World Tour, including victory at the Porsche Singapore Classic in March.
Among others, he joins countryman Ludvig Åberg, who finished runner-up on his first Major start at the Masters last month.
Fellow Swede Sebastian Söderberg, Japan's Keita Nakajima and Spain's Adrian Otaegui secured exemptions by finishing in the top three on the DP World Tour's recent Asian Swing.
The final two spots in the 156-player field are being reserved for winners of this week’s PGA TOUR events, the Wells Fargo Championship and Myrtle Beach Classic.

The purse for the 2024 US PGA Championship will not be disclosed until the week of the championship. In 2023, the purse was $17.5 million with the champion receiving $3,150,000.
In addition to the winner’s prize money, the 2024 US PGA champion will receive a lifetime exemption into the US PGA Championship along with a replica of the Wanamaker Trophy.
What is the Wanamaker Trophy?
Awarded to the winner of the US PGA Championship, the Wanamaker Trophy has been around since the inaugural championship in 1916 and is one of the most famous pieces of silverware in golf.

There are a total of 10,000 Race to Dubai ranking points to be played for, with 1,665 going to the winner assuming they are a DP World Tour member.
