Uihlein shares early lead in Thailand

Peter Uihlein continued his impressive form since recovering from a wrist injury as he took a share of the early lead on day one of the True Thailand Classic Presented by Chang.

The American was forced to withdraw from the Omega Dubai Desert Classic last month due to the problem but returned to action at the Maybank Championship Malaysia two weeks later and registered a top ten finish.

A tie for fourth at the ISPS HANDA Perth International followed and six birdies in his first ten holes at the stunning Black Mountain Golf Club, now a member of the network of European Tour Properties, gave him a share of the lead in Hua Hin at five under.

He shared that lead with Scotland's Scott Jamieson, who rattled off five birdies in a row from the 16th to sit five under through 13 holes.

Uihlein, also starting on the tenth, opened birdie-birdie but dropped a shot on the 12th before making further gains on the 13th, 16th, 17th and first.

England's Gary Boyd, Dane Joachim B Hansen and Swede Joakim Lagergren were then all at three under after 12 holes, with Indian duo Arjun Atwal and Himmat Rai, Spaniard Jorge Campillo and Wales' Rhys Davies all also two back.

Home favourite Thongchai Jaidee teed it up after recently overcoming a virus and he was in the group at one under, one clear of Australian Jason Scrivener who recorded the 11th hole-in-one of the season with an ace on the par three third.
