Peter Uihlein got off to another fast start as he set the clubhouse target with an eight under par 64 on day one of the True Thailand Classic Presented by Chang.
The American fired an opening 65 to hold the first-round lead in his last event at the the ISPS HANDA Perth International and had posted the same score on day one of the Maybank Championship Malaysia a week earlier.
He went one better on Thursday at Black Mountain Golf Club with nine birdies and a single blemish handing him a two-shot advantage over Scotland's Scott Jamieson and Spaniard Javier Colomo.
Uihlein secured top ten finishes in both Malaysia and Australia and has once again put himself in contention to challenge for a second European Tour title as he continues his recovery from a wrist injury.
The 26 year old missed two cuts on the Desert Swing before withdrawing from the Omega Dubai Desert Classic due to the problem but has been in impressive form ever since.
Starting on the tenth, he made a birdie-birdie start but dropped a shot on the 12th before further gains on the 13th, 16th and 17th saw him turn in 32. Birdies then followed on the first, second, sixth and seventh as he posted his lowest round of the season so far to share the course record which was set last year by Northern Ireland's Michael Hoey.
Jamieson also started on the back nine and opened with six pars before a run of five birdies from the 16th catapulted him up the leaderboard and he picked up another shot on the sixth.
Colomo was also bogey-free with gains on the first, sixth, seventh, 11th, 17th and 18th and that was enough to put him a shot clear of Englishmen Gary Boyd and Robert Dinwiddie, Welshman Rhys Davies and Taiwan's Hsieh Chi-hsien.
Boyd and Dinwiddie were both flawless in their efforts while Davies had an eagle and two bogeys and Hsieh also had two blemishes on his card.
Jorge Campillo, Scott Hend, Joakim Lagergren, Prom Meesawat, Angelo Que, Himmat Rai and Marc Warren were then all at four under, a shot clear of a group including World Number 37 Thongchai Jaidee.
Australian Jason Scrivener is playing at Black Mountain, now a member of the network of European Tour Properties, courtesy of his third place finish in Perth and recorded the 11th hole-in-one of the season on the par three third on his way to a level par 72.
"It was just a perfect number, 154 yards, and I hit a nice eight iron in there which was probably the first good shot of the day so for it to go in was nice," he said.

"We can all hit great shots to a foot or a few inches but you need the little bit of extra luck for the ball to actually go in the hole.
"The champagne will go down very nicely."
