UBS Hong Kong Open: Day 2 in numbers

It was the highest ranked player in the field that stole the headlines on day two in Hong Kong as Justin Rose jumped to the top of the leaderboard. However, with Hong Kong Golf Club playing tough and players scrambling for their Tour cards, there was plenty to talk about. Here are the best facts and figures from the second round.

Graeme McDowell, Dustin Johnson and Justin Rose

76- Players have made the cut at level par or better. Among those not around for the weekend is World Number Eight Dustin Johnson, who carded a second round 72 to miss the cut by a shot.

131 - Low score after 36 holes courtesy of Justin Rose. The Englishman backed up an opening round 66 with a second round 65 to lead Lucas Bjerregaard by a shot heading into round three.

307 - Driving distance for Rose over the first 36 holes, whilst finding 72 per cent of fairways. The seven-time European Tour winner has dropped just one shot.

Ian Poulter

66- For Ian Poulter today to move within two shots of the lead. The 39 year old is the only past champion of this event to make the cut.

1- New caddie for Poulter this week. After his last minute dash to the event, he picked up Hong Kong Golf Club pro Alan Gibson to loop for him. It's actually the second time the Scot has caddied for Poults having done so when he and Rose opened the Mission Hills course in Shenzhen in 2013, where Gibson used to work.

66- Both the score shot by Marcus Fraser today and the number of places he jumped up the leaderboard. The Australian has finished in the top three at this event in two of the last three years.

10- birdies on the back nine already this week for Bjerregaard, who has clearly taken a shine to those holes.

1- round over 70 for the consistent Graeme McDowell in his last 14 rounds.

Graeme McDowell

6- rounds in the 60s in a row for in-form Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick, who is six under par and in contention again.

0- bogeys on Matt Ford's card, as the Englishman, who is currently 117th in the Race to Dubai, shot a five under par 65 to move into a tie for fifth place. Ford needs to finish 20th or better to ensure European Tour golf next year.

493 - yard par four ninth hole played the toughest on day two, averaging 4.5 and yielding just nine birdies.

13- the par five played the easiest averaging 4.52 and giving up 74 birdies.
