Two for one at Archerfield Links

Golf fans are being offered the deal of a lifetime in Scotland this summer, where they will be able to watch twice as much action for the price of a single ticket.

Spectators at the Paul Lawrie Match Play, a European Tour event which will be held from 4-7 August at the scenic Archerfield Links Golf Club, will be given the chance to return to the East Lothian course for free two weeks later to watch the past masters in action at the Prostate Cancer UK Scottish Senior Open.

When buying a ticket for the 64-man knock out event on the 2016 Race to Dubai, links golf lovers will be able to return to Archerfield on Scotland’s Golf Coast for no added cost to watch the cream of the crop of the European Senior Tour battle it out for another coveted title.

By showing a ticket from the Paul Lawrie Match Play when entering the Scottish Senior Open, spectators will be granted free admission for all three days of the event from August 19-21.

The innovative idea was introduced to encourage golf followers of all ages to come and watch both tournaments, with adult day tickets costing just £15 and under-18s being able to enter for free.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for golf supporters to see two generations of golfing professionals on one of Scotland’s finest links courses in the space of three weeks,” said tournament host Paul Lawrie. “We have teamed up with the Senior Tour so that adults who attend the Match Play will enjoy free entry to the Scottish Senior Open event later in the month.

“I have always been a great supporter of the Scottish Senior Open. Who knows, one day I may even end up playing on it. It is fantastic to see so many of the players that I looked up to when I was starting off on the Tour continuing to play to such a high standard and entertaining the crowds.

“There is a bit more banter between the players as the pressure is not quite so intense, which I think adds to the whole atmosphere of the Scottish Senior Open.”

Andy Stubbs, Managing Director of the European Senior Tour, said: “The Prostate Cancer UK Scottish Senior Open follows hard on the heels of the Paul Lawrie Match Play, and we are pleased to be able to offer free admission to anyone who has attended Paul’s event earlier in the month.

“This tremendous initiative rewards the loyalty of the Scottish golfing public to our tournaments, and will enable the public to see the best of the generations in East Lothian.”
