Tshwane Open day one - What they said

Alexander Björk, Grégory Havret and Haydn Porteous all fired rounds of 65 to take the first-round lead at the Tshwane Open.

Here, we take a look at what some of those looking to catch the trio had to say after round one.

Duncan Stewart (66, -5)

"I'm very happy. It's a tricky course. The rough's really thick this week, you've got to keep it on the fairway. The couple of times I didn't hit it on the fairway, I got lucky and still had a shot to the green. My short game was good and I holed out very well. I missed a few chances but overall I putted very well. Any time you shoot five under, you can't complain. I'm more than happy at altitude. I'm not one of the bigger hitters, so it feels like I'm hitting it quite long."

Justin Walters (66, -5)

"I haven't had a good run of form lately. I have been struggling with a few injuries and even this week I had to withdraw from the pro-am. I'm a little worried about neck problems so to be finally feeling a little fit and healthier with the break I took yesterday was good for me. Coming out today, I wasn't quite expecting the results I have so I'm very happy. The rough has been quite brutal, I must say, but I managed to stay out of it a little bit. I visited it on my first hole and I quickly learned that I must stay out of it. I did a pretty good job with that. It's nice to hit a few putts and look up and see them going in, lately it has been the opposite."

Toby Tree (66, -5)

"I'm very pleased. My first round score has been pretty average the last few weeks, so it's nice to actually fire a low round to start the week off. Last year I played well here. I had a bit of a crappy last round, to be honest. But I think I finished 14th, which is the best position on a European Tour event for me, so it's nice coming back here. The rough's good. You have to concentrate off the tee, there's a lot of emphasis on hitting the fairways. I've been pretty aggressive off the tee to try and get it as far up as I can. It's playing great."
