Trophee Hassan II: Day One in Numbers

For the second straight year the Trophee Hassan II is taking place at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam and once again the challenging 7,460 yard layout is showing its teeth. Only nine players finished 72 holes under par here last year and the course proved difficult in this year's opening round. Here's just some of the facts and figures from today's round.

0- Rounds in the 60s today. It's the first time that has happened this season. The last time it happened on Tour was the fourth round of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in May last year.

0- Dropped shots for England's Max Orrin and Italy's Edoardo Molinari, the only players in the field without a bogey on day one.

52- Players within three shots of the lead. The highest number since the 2005 Open de Espana (65).

14- Fairways for both David Drysdale and Jeff Winther, an amazing feat on such a demanding course. It's the third time this season Winther has hit at least 14 fairways in a row.

7- Birdies for Matteo Manassero in his opening round 72. No one made more birdies. It's the Italian's second straight opening round with seven birdies, having done so in India last month. Before that it was nine months since his last seven-birdie round.

- Manassero also led the field in Putts per GiR on day one at a brilliant 1.3 average

5- Frenchmen within a shot of the lead, thanks to good starts from Gary Stal, Alex Levy, Gregory Bourdy, Clement Sordet and Gregory Havret.

17 - Despite finding 17 of 18 Greens in Regulation on Thursday - more than any other player in round one - Sweden's Sebastian Soderberg was left cursing his putter after finishing the day in a share of 35th place
