Trio tied at the top in Gujarat

Maximilian Kieffer relinquished a two shot outright lead midway through a tense final round at the Gujarat Kensville Challenge, as he was joined at the top by Andreas Hartø and Rahil Gangjee on six under par.

The German started steadily with four pars but when he bogeyed the fifth it looked like it may not be his tournament, before his round took flight at the par five sixth hole, where he carded his first birdie of the day.

Two more followed on the seventh and ninth holes to sign for a 34 on the front nine and he stepped on to the 10th tee, just one shot clear of Hartø, before a bogey on the tenth knocked him back to six under for the tournament.

Hartø also struggled to get going early on as he bogeyed the third hole but an eagle at the sixth took him to five under par before birdies on the seventh and 11th were interrupted by a bogey on the tenth.

Gangjee, meanwhile, was playing steady after entering the final round as the overnight leader, starting with seven pars in a row before he bogeyed the par three eighth to drop to five under.

A birdie at the 10th, however, saw him return to the place where he has been at the close of every day’s play at Kensville Golf and Country Club, near Ahmedabad in Gujarat, India.

Callum Macaulay was just a shot further back on five under after he negotiated the front nine on two under par before successive birdies on the 11th and 12th.
