Toby Tree reached the turn in a four-under-par 31 to propel himself into contention on day three of the Tshwane Open.

The 21 year old was one over par heading into his third round after posting scores of 70 and 71 on Thursday and Friday respectively.

Tree slipped to two over early on Saturday after following up a par at the first with a bogey at the par-four second.

But the Englishman bounced back in style, firing back-to-back birdies from the fourth, before making a further gain at the eighth and an eagle at the long ninth.

South Africa's Zander Lombard also started brightly on day three, following pars at the opening five holes with gains at the sixth and seventh before rolling in from four feet for another birdie at the eighth.
