It’s only four days until Ireland’s biggest sporting event this year, the 2013 Irish Open, taking place from June 27th-30th at Carton House, Maynooth, Co. Kildare. And getting to the tournament venue could not be easier.

BY TRAIN:

The 2013 Irish Open is located within 20 minutes walking distance of Maynooth and lies on the Western Suburban Railway Line, which serves three City Centre stations (Pearse Street Station, Tara Street Station and Connolly Station) as well as eight other suburban stations (Drumcondra, Boombridge, Ashtown, Castleknock, Coolmine, Clonsilla, Leixlip Confrey and Leixlip Louisa Bridge).

A taxi journey from the Maynooth Station to Carton House will take approximately 5 minutes.

The 2013 Irish Open has teamed up with Iarnrod Eireann Irish Rail to offer golf fans the best route to the event this summer. Travel from Dublin’s Connolly station to Maynooth in under 40 mins. Taking the train is the fastest, easiest and most convenient way to make sure that you are right there in the thick of the action. From the first tee to the final putt Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail will get you there without the stress.

Return adult tickets are priced at €7.25 and €2.80 for children U16 and are available to purchase from any City Centre Station

BY CAR:

From Dublin take the main M4 motorway westbound. From the motorway, take the ‘Leixlip West’ exit (junction 6) and follow the signs to AA road sign to the 2013 Irish Open. The event is approximately a five-minute drive from the M4 motorway exit.

From the west, take the M4 motorway to Dublin and approximately 20km from Dublin city take the ‘Leixlip West’ exit (junction 6) and follow the AA road signs to the 2013 Irish Open. The event is approximately a five-minute drive from the M4 motorway exit.

Expected journey times from the following locations to the 2013 Irish Open by car are as follows:

•    Blackrock Co. Dublin – 30 minutes

•    Malahide Co. Dublin – 30 minutes

•    Dublin City Centre – 25 minutes

•    Galway City – 2 hours

•    Limerick City – 2 hours 24 minutes

•    Cork City – 2 hours 58 minutes

•    Belfast City – 2 hours 23 minutes

•    Newry Co Down – 1hour 10 minutes

Parking at the event is FREE. All cars coming to the event need to enter via the public car park gate; there will be no public parking through any other gate. Please follow AA event signage at all times.

This year’s sporting spectacular location, based on the Montgomerie Course at the luxury resort, also boasts the addition of a spectator stadium titled the “Open House @17” which will include grandstand seating for almost 1,500 fans on the 17th hole where fans can cheer on the shots from the famous names taking part.

For an additional €10 per day, spectators will be a given a VIP wristband that grants access to the grandstand throughout the event with additional benefits such as:

•    One free drink and a choice of take away meal at the 17th hole

•    Discounts at The European Tour merchandise shop

The 2013 Irish Open will celebrate and welcome home the best of Irish and world golf. Four Irish Major Champions – Darren Clarke, Padraig Harrington, Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy  - will compete at Carton House along with Carton’s Touring Professional and previous Irish Open Champion, Shane Lowry, a host of Tour winners and Ryder Cup stars plus 2014 captain Paul McGinley and his 2012 predecessor José Maria Olazábal, creating a superb platform for this year’s event.

From 9.00am Monday, June 24th, tickets will only be available to purchase on the gate at the Irish Open at Carton House at gate prices. Tickets can also be purchased this week at the event venue in the days leading up to the 2013 Irish Open.
