Top 24 Photos of the Year

The 2015 season was one to remember with nine multiple winners and 14 first time winners as well as memorable victories for the likes of Rory McIlroy, Søren Kjeldsen, Russell Knox and Shane Lowry, to name but a few.

Throughout December we counted down our favourite photos from the 2015 Race to Dubai. Each day onInstagramwe unveiled a new photo with the story behind it. Get involved and let us know what you think.

Here are all the pictures we chose:

No. 24: The Coolest Team In Golf

Olesen and Slater

Two of the coolest dudes around. At this year's Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in St Andrews Thorbjorn Olesen and 11-time World Surfing Champion Kelly Slater were paired together. We took this photo with them after they finished their third round by putting a GoPro camera inside the hole. The next day, Thorbjorn went on to to win the tournament by two shots. It was the second time that Slater had played in the tournament. On both occasions, he played with the winner, having also partnered Simon Dyson back in 2004. Neither needed much encouragement to celebrate their success in this photo.

No. 23: Golf On Top Of The World

Willett at Crans

Getty photographer Stuart Franklin captured this photo of Danny Willett en route to winning the Omega European Masters in Switzerland. Golf Club Crans-sur-Sierre, located 60 miles south of Bern, is 5,000ft above sea level and provides some of the most spectacular views of the season.

No. 22: The Smiling Assassin

This was the scene on the first fairway during the second round of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at Royal County Down. Andy Sullivan and his caddie Sean McDonagh were captured celebrating the Englishman's albatross from 259 yards with a 2 iron. It was one of four albatrosses during the 2015 season and one of many smiles on Sulli's face throughout the year!

No 21: Dubai Sunrise

A player walks up the tenth hole with his caddie during ahead of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic on the Majlis Course at the Emirates Golf Club in the final event of the annual Desert Swing. In 2015 the revered layout plated host to Rory McIlroy's first win of the season.

Australia's Scott Hend breaks a club whilst escaping from under a tree during the final round of the True Thailand Classic at Black Mountain Golf Club.

No. 19: Under The Bridge

A rare look from below the water by the 700 year old Swilcan Bridge on the 18th hole at the Old Course. Photo was taken with a GoPro Hero 4 camera as Thomas Pieters took the most famous walk in golf during a practice round at the 2015 Dunhill Links.

No. 18: Eyes On The Prize

George

South Africa's George Coetzee stares down victory during the Tshwane Open in March. The 29 year old made it two wins in four starts when he took home the title at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, making him one of nine multiple winners in 2015.

No. 17: Don't Go Long

Madeira

Scott Henry of Scotland tees off on the fourth hole during the third round of the Madeira Islands Open in Portugal. Club de Golf do Santo da Serra is more than 2,000 feet above sea level and this 200 yard par three is one of the most stunning holes anywhere on our schedule.

No. 16: Race Ends Here

Dubai

During the third round of the season-ending DP World Tour Championship Getty photographer David Cannon took to the skies in a helicopter to capture this shot of the par three 17th hole and par five 18th hole at the Jumeirah Golf Estates. The Greg Norman-designed course has hosted the final event in the Race to Dubai each year since 2009.

No. 15: On The Range

Andy Sullivan grinds on the range before the first round of the Turkish Airlines Open. The Englishman was the only man not named Rory McIlroy to win three times during the 2015 Race to Dubai. This photo was taken using the burst mode on a GoPro Hero 4 camera.

No. 14: Tough Approach

Chambers Bay

Rory McIlroy plays from a bunker on the 18th at the US Open at Chambers Bay. The course was noted for its fast, firm fairways and links-style bunkering and provided the site of Jordan Spieth's second straight Major championship victory.

No. 13: Walk-off Wedge

Getty photographer Andrew Reddington captured this moment Andrew 'Beef' Johnston holed out on the 18th hole of the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open at Gullane GC. The Englishman, who was playing alongside Miguel Ángel Jiménez, then did the Spaniard's signature dance in front of the man himself.

No. 12: Farewell Tom

Photographer Mike Ehrmann snapped this shot of Tom Watson as he waved to the St Andrews crowd from the 18th green in honor of his final Open appearance at the 144th Open Championship at The Old Course. Watson won The Open five times from 1975 to 1983. Only Harry Vardon has won more Claret Jugs.

No. 11: Winning at St Andrews

It's every golfers dream to win in St Andrews and this photo gives an idea of what that's like. Thorbjorn Olesen lifts the Dunhill Links trophy in front of the R&A clubhouse and the 18th green of the Old Course after his two-shot victory in October. Look closely and you'll see the GoPro camera we attached to Thorbjorn to capture the moment!

No. 10: The Most Interesting Stretch

Prior to the final round of the season, Getty Images photographer Andrew Reddington captured this amazing picture of Miguel Ángel Jiménez stretching on the range at the DP World Tour Championship. FYI, Miguel is 51 years old!

No. 9: County Down

At this year's Irish Open we positioned a GoPro above the tee on the long par three fourth hole and captured this shot of Sweden's Alex Noren. Less than 5 per cent of those who teed it up at this 230-yard hole made birdie. Positioned at the far side of the Royal County Down course, facing the Mountains of Mourne, it was the third toughest hole of the week.

No. 8: Only in St Andrews

Courtesy of Luke Donald, who spotted this garden in the centre of St Andrews. Where else in the world would someone have a replica of the Road Hole bunker in their back garden?!

No. 7: The Comeback

38 days after rupturing his ankle ligaments playing football Rory McIlroy made his return at the US PGA Championship at Whistling Straits. Getty photographer Jamie Squire took this photo of the four-time Major champion on the seventh hole of his opening round. McIlroy finished the week tied 17th, meaning he has now finished inside the top 25 in his last eight Major appearances.

No. 6: Reed Celebrates

American Patrick Reed holed out from 97 yards from this fairway bunker on the 15th hole of the BMW Masters to tie the lead with just three holes remaining in the tournament. Getty snapper Andrew Reddington was on hand behind the green to capture this amazing photo of Reed celebrating the shot. Whilst he lost in a play-off to Kristoffer Broberg, Reed finished inside the top ten in all three of his Final Series appearances.

No. 5: Kjeldsen's Homecoming

Having made his 500th European Tour start at the US PGA Championship the week before, Søren Kjeldsen returned to his native Denmark to a hero's welcome as the 40 year old finished just two shots behind Made In Denmark champion David Horsey. Photographer Stuart Franklin followed Kjeldsen during his final round and took this photo of the four-time winner as he approached the famous par three 16th hole.

No. 4: Patrons

Photographer Jamie Squire took this photo of Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods in front of the the Masters patrons on the third tee during the fourth round the year's first Major. Both players finished in the top 20 with McIlroy shooting the low round of the day on Sunday to finish inside the top five.

No. 3: Farewell Ivor

After 40 years as the official starter for The European Tour, The Open and the Ryder Cup, Ivor Robson officially retired after the DP World Tour Championship. The last group he announced was Rory McIlroy and Andy Sullivan. We will miss him!

No. 2: A New British Masters

Photographer Ross Kinnaird was in position on the 18th green to capture this great photo of Matthew Fitzpatrick. The 21 year old had just shot a 64 in the first round of the British Masters (which he would go on to win) and stood in front of a sign displaying three current greats of British golf in Luke Donald, Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood.

No. 1: Number One Again!

Rory McIlroy celebrates having just holed from a bunker on the 18th hole of the DP World Tour Championship. The 26 year old would go on to win the season-ending tournament three days later and win the Race to Dubai for the third time in four years. Getty photographer Ross Kinnaird was on hand to capture the iconic moment.
