The Scotsman enjoyed the best year of his European Tour career last season as he finished 26th on the Race to Dubai Rankings presented by Rolex and already has a top ten this campaign.

He turned in 33 to join Englishmen Ben and Ryan Evans and South African Jacques Kruyswijk at three under at Centro Nacional de Golf.

Starting from the tenth, Jamieson birdied the 11th, 15th and 18th to sit alongside a trio of players who had to fight their way onto the Tour this season.

Kruyswijk is playing in his debut campaign after finishing second at the Qualifying School and he birdied the tenth, 12th, 13th and 18th with a bogey on the 14th in his first nine holes.

Ben Evans regained his card at the School and birdied the second, fifth and seventh in his first seven, while Challenge Tour graduate Ryan Evans turned in 33 with birdies on the third, seventh and ninth.

There was then a group of 13 players at two under including Dane Thorbjørn Olesen, Tshwane Open champion George Coetzee and local favourites Adrian Otaegui, Scott Fernandez and amateur Victor Pastor.

The marquee trio of defending champion Andrew Johnston, Rafa Cabrera Bello and Jon Rahm were one under after seven holes.
