Tight at the top in Denmark

Charles-Edouard Russo and Daniel Denison occupied the top of the leaderboard as the final groups reached the turn in the last round of the ECCO Tour Championship presented by Thomas Björn and Mercedes Benz on Saturday.

The Frenchman Russo shot a two under par 34 on the front nine before a birdie on the tenth handed him the outright lead at three under for the day and seven under for the tournament.

Denison also birdied the tenth hole after negotiating the front nine in one under par, thanks to birdies on the first and eighth holes before dropping a shot on the ninth.

One shot behind Russo and Denison were Englishman Steven Tiley and the Danish duo of Knud Storgaard and Lasse Jensen.

Tiley had taken a lead thanks to successive birdies on the fifth, sixth and seventh holes but he followed up that streak with a bogey on the eighth.

After the tournament was reduced to 54 holes following a lightning delay on Wednesday and a day without play on Friday due to rain, the second round was finished on Saturday morning before a two-tee start in the third and final round later in the day.

Overnight leader Alessandro Tadini fell back to sixth spot after a bogey on the third left him one over par for the day and five under for the tournament while German Bernd Ritthammer, French pair François Delamontagne and Julien Quesne and England’s Matthew Cryer were tied for seventh on four under par.
