Home Favourite: Ugo Coussaud
Frenchman Coussaud is currently leading the way on the French Challenge Order of Merit, a mini Rankings through the Open de Bretagne and this week’s event whereby the leading French player will earn a spot in the Cazoo Open de France later this year. The 29-year-old finished sixth in Brittany last month, putting himself in pole position for a spot at Le Golf National in September. He has missed only one cut in four past appearances at Golf du Vaudreuil, so has a good chance of putting in a challenge this week.
Form horse: Lorenzo Scalise
Lorenzo Scalise has missed only one cut since returning to Europe from the South African swing to start the season, and is currently inside the top 20 on the Road to Mallorca Rankings thanks to his consistency. The 26-year-old missed out on a play-off by only one spot at the Italian Challenge Open last week as he finished in a tie for third, his best result of the season so far. He finished in a tie for ninth at Le Vaudreuil last year and will be looking to build on that this week.
The Outsider: Max Orrin
This week’s Outsider is a man who has two Challenge Tour wins to his name, Englishman Max Orrin. The 28-year-old won the 2014 National Bank of Oman Golf Classic and the 2015 Made in Denmark Challenge as he showed great signs of promise. Having just missed out on securing his DP World Tour card in 2018, he struggled in the seasons that ensued, finishing outside the top 100 on the Road to Mallorca Rankings in the three seasons which followed. However, last month, Orrin entered the winner’s circle once more as he triumphed in the Clutch Pro Tour’s Frilford Heath Classic, going wire-to-wire with rounds of 64-72. Eagle-eyed supporters will remember Orrin was one of our ones to watch ahead of the Kaskada Golf Challenge, but had to withdraw through injury.
