Three to watch: D+D Real Slovakia Challenge

The D+D Real Slovakia Challenge returns to the European Challenge Tour International Schedule after a three-year hiatus this week. We take a look at three players who look set to contend at Penati Golf Resort from July 4-7.

Oliver Farr

Oliver Farr comes into the event off the back of his third top-five result in just only four Challenge Tour starts this season. A fourth-place finish at the Italian Challenge Open Eneos Motor Oil is the latest impressive result for the Welshman, who also finished fourth at the Jordan Mixed Open presented by Ayla and in a share of fifth place at the Swiss Challenge Presented by Swiss Golf.

The two-time Challenge Tour winner is still looking for his first win in 2019 and with his impressive form so far this season few would put it past him to achieve just that in Slovakia this week.

Borja Virto

Borja Virto will be looking to replicate the spectacular form that saw him clinch his first Challenge Tour title at the 2015 D+D Real Slovakia Challenge, where he chipped in on the 72nd hole to pip Ricardo Gouveia to the title by a single shot.

He is one of three players to capture the D+D Real Slovakia Challenge crown, with Scot Andrew McArthur winning the maiden title in 2014 and Espen Kofstad overcoming Romain Langasque in a play-off to seal victory in 2016.

Virto’s win was the first of two victories for the Spaniard that season, with the 27-year-old also coming out on top at the Foshan Open en route to a third-place finish in the Challenge Tour Rankings. With a top-five already under his belt at the D+D Real Czech Challenge this year, can he reproduce his heroics on the final green at Penati Golf Club and clinch his third Challenge Tour title?

Antoine Rozner

Antoine Rozner will be aiming to seal his promotion to the European Tour one week after narrowly missing out on his third Challenge Tour victory in Italy.

The Frenchman has enjoyed a dream start to the season, claiming his maiden win at the Challenge de España before cruising to a dominant seven-shot victory at the Prague Golf Challenge the following week.

He looked set to secure his European Tour card after entering the final round of the Italian Challenge Open Eneos Motor Oil in pole position and despite eventually settling for fourth position, further solidified his place atop the Challenge Tour Rankings.

Can this be the week the 26-year-old claims his third win and earns a coveted spot on Europe’s premier circuit?
