Thorbjørn Olesen hopes to cash in chips with win in Sun City

Thorbjørn Olesen hopes his double chip-in during round three of the Nedbank Golf Challenge can put him on course for victory.

The Dane sits in a tie for third on 11 under par, two behind leader Max Homa, after twice holing from off the green.

Having chipped in from rough beside the second green, Olesen repeated the trick at the eighth to account for two of his four birdies in a round of 69.

“Today was a little bit different, there was a bit of everything out there – a couple of chip-ins, a shank on 16. But beside that it was generally pretty good, probably a little bit better the first two days but it was fun, felt like I was pretty steady.

“If you're from Europe it's very different to play here. Obviously I've been here a few times now and I'm more used to it but it still feels a bit different and I think this course everything can happen on any hole so its an exciting golf course to play.

“I can't remember when I last chipped in so nice to have two in one round. Both of them were pretty perfect. A really tricky one on the second but I hit it great and it just dropped in. They were both excellent and very pleased.

“It's a great tournament with a lot of history and a lot of great players has won this tournament so I think every player in this field would love to put their name on this trophy.”
