Ko goes low… again
France’s Jeong weon Ko caught the attention of the golfing world at the Bain’s Whisky Cape Town Open when he fired an impressive eight under par round of 64 on day two, which started with five consecutive birdies. It was the first time Ko had ever carded five birdies in a row but then, incredibly, he did exactly the same again on day two at Fancourt Golf Estate.
He birdied holes 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 as he put together a seven under par opening nine, before eventually signing for a magnificent ten under par round of 62.

South African dominance
Wilco Nienaber’s victory capped off a fine South African Swing for homegrown players. The 21-year-old’s triumph made it three from three for South Africans after Brandon Stone won the Limpopo Championship and JC Ritchie earned his second Challenge Tour victory at the Bain’s Whisky Cape Town Open. Additionally, it completed three successive weekends where South African players won on both the Challenge Tour and the European Tour, with Garrick Higgo winning either side of Dean Burmester on the Race to Dubai.
