Tenth anniversary visit for Special Olympics Athletes

Tips from one of the most exciting talents in European golf, Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Tom Lewis, and three-time Major Champion Padraig Harrington were among the highlights for a group of Special Olympics athletes visiting the BMW PGA Championship today.

Mikael Undrom, George Hutchings, Beth Wragg, Marco Pasquale Fusco and Bobbie Wright also presented European Tour Chief Executive George O’Grady with an engraved silver plate to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Special Olympics athletes visits to Wentworth Club for The European Tour’s flagship event.

The athletes enjoyed a behind the scenes tour of Wentworth in a packed day that included a look around the clubhouse with Wentworth Club Managing Director Julian Small, an insight into the TV compound to see how the event is televised to global audience, a visit to the Mizuno workshop and a tour of the media centre.

And after watching some of the world’s greatest golfers in action during the first round of the BMW PGA Championship, Special Olympics Ambassador Harrington gave the five athletes a putting lesson to help their own golfing development.
