Think of match play golf and you think of perhaps the most thrilling, captivating form of the old game; you think of drama, of pressure, of fightbacks, of wild, fist-pumping celebrations and above all, of intense head-to-head, mano a mano sporting theatre.
Over the years, we have been treated to countless moments of brilliance in European Tour match play events from the revered transatlantic tussle that is the biennial Ryder Cup, to the WGC Match Play event, to the Volvo World Match Play and to, latterly, the Paul Lawrie Match Play in Scotland.
