Tadini posted a fine five under par 67 to move to eight under par 136 for the tournament to establish a one-stroke clubhouse lead over Matthew Baldwin, last week’s winner of the Credit Suisse Challenge Benjamin Herbert and Anthony Snobeck.

Currently 32ndon the Challenge Tour Rankings, Tadini produced an outstanding display on the perfectly manicured greens of the Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf & Spa to move into contention.

That brought a huge sense of relief to the Italian, who has changed his putter more times than he can remember over the course of the 2011 season.

“The putting was the big difference for me today,” said Tadini. “I don’t know how many times I have changed the putter this year. It seems that every week I change it at least once during a tournament. It has been very frustrating because I feel that I could be in the top five of the Rankings if I had putted well this year.

“I hope that I have found the solution. I was very confident on the greens today and they were in perfect condition which made things a lot easier.”
