Andy Sullivan was delighted to maintain momentum heading into the busy summer schedule after finishing in a tie for third at the Rocco Forte Sicilian Open.
The 2017 campaign was a disappointing one by the Englishman's very high standards as he finished 62nd on the Race to Dubai Rankings presented by Rolex, registering just two top tens the season after making the European Ryder Cup Team.
He already has three top tens and no missed cuts from his nine appearances this term as he looks for a first victory since the last of his three wins in 2015.
The BMW PGA Championship which starts on May 24 is the first of five Rolex Series events in eight weeks and Sullivan believes he is peaking at the right time for the marquee tournaments.
"It's almost like the European Tour have made it that the Rolexs are the Majors now, you're trying to peak for those events and I feel going into Wentworth in two weeks, the game feels in great shape, I'm playing consistently well," he said.
"If all things come together in one week, we might have a week like this where we get close. I feel like it's all there to be had for me this year."
Sullivan had a putt to make a play-off on the last at Verdura Golf Club and admitted to some disappointment after a closing 65.
"I didn't drive the ball particularly well on that front nine and just managed to hang in there and then felt like I finished that nine really well to get somewhere near," he added.
"I just always felt that I was just one or two away from where I wanted to be, put that down to not hitting it close enough today or I look back to Friday afternoon and I played that back nine in three over.
"There's a lot of positives to look at. I'm looking at the side of it where I feel a bit down but I'm playing well again and starting to get myself back in contention. I just feel a little deflated that I didn't quite get that extra one or two to get up top."
Lucas Herbert finished alongside Sullivan after equalling the lowest round of the week with a 63 and he was delighted with how he handled the pressure down the stretch.
"I felt really good out there," said the Australian. "I just felt really calm and in control and it was good to see some putts roll in today which was very rewarding.
"I was oddly calm, I really didn't get nervous. There was a little bit of adrenaline running through there but I never really felt too nervous over any shots, I felt quite in control. It was a pretty satisfying feeling to come down and knock that putt in on 18 and not feel like my head was exploding."
