Storm bound for Royal St George's

England's Graeme Storm won the International Final Qualifying - Europe for the second time in three years to lead the qualifiers for The Open at Royal St Georges.

And once again the former Amateur Champion had a 62 on the New Course at Sunningdale, although with placing allowed on the wet fairways this time the round, which even included a shank on the 16th, did not equal his own record.

"I was lucky not to go into the bushes on that shot, but then I nearly holed-in-one on the 17th and holed a 15 footer on the last," said the Hartlepool golfer.

On 12 under he finished three ahead of Saab Wales Open champion Alex Noren and four clear of Scot Peter Whiteford, England's Gary Boyd and 2002 Open runner-up Thomas Levet.

Kenneth Ferrie and Richard McEvoy qualified with Levet's fellow Frenchman Gregory Bourdy and Spaniard Alejandro Canizares on seven under, while five on six under went into a play-off for the final spot, with South African George Coetzee claiming the precious ticket to Royal St George's.
