Spanish pair in play-off

Sergio Garcia birdied the final hole to force a play-off with fellow Spaniard Pablo Larrazabal at the BMW International Open in Munich.

Garcia had been two ahead after a magical run of three successive birdies from the sixth and eagle putts of 25 and 40 feet at the ninth and 11th, but then came four bogeys in five holes.

Larrazabal had also dropped a shot on the 16th, parred the last two and then saw Garcia make the green in two at the 568 yard 18th and two-putt for a matching 68 and 16-under total of 272.

Joint third two strokes behind were Scotland's Scott Jamieson after a best-of-the-day 64, England's overnight leader Mark Foster, South Africans Retief Goosen and George Coetzee and Dutchman Joost Luiten.

Both were on in two at the first extra hole - the long 18th - and both just missed eagle attempts from 25 feet, so they returned to the tee again.

Garcia drove into the rough and with Larrazabal on in two again did wonderfully well to hit his second just short of the green, albeit in more rough.

He then chipped to three feet and with Larrazabal missing from 35 feet it was shared in birdies again.

This time, however, they crossed to the short 12th to try to settle it.

The third did not decide it either, Garcia lipping out from 20 feet and Larrazabal missing again from 14 feet.

It was the short 17th next and after Garcia missed from 15 feet Larrazabal failed from just inside him - and so they headed to the 18th once more for the fifth extra hole.
