South African trio tied at the top

South African duo Dawie Van Der Walt and Alex Haindl joined compatriot and overnight leader Anthony Michael at the top of the leaderboard during the second round of the Alfred Dunhill Championship.

Big-hitting Van Der Walt had opened with a five under 67, and with Michael not teeing off until the afternoon the 27 year old was able to join him in front on six under by playing his first 15 holes in one under par.

By comparison Haindl was only one under on day one and had done most of his good work in the second round - the Durban-born golfer five under through 11 holes thanks largely to eagles at the 15th and second.

Van Der Walt almost chipped in on the 16th to take the outright lead, but Norway's Marius Thorp instead made it a four-way tie at the top when his perfect tee shot at the par three fifth left a tap-in birdie.

Another South African, Keith Horne, was joined by Scotland's Scott Jamieson, English pair Neil Cheetham and Robert Rock, Germany's Sebastian Buhl and Spain's defending champion Pablo Martin on five under.
