The first four co-sanctioned events between the European Challenge Tour and the Sunshine Tour have provided a brilliant start to the 2022 Road to Mallorca. We take a look at our time in South Africa so far in numbers…
4 – Alexander Knappe posted four bogey-free rounds at the Dimension Data Pro-Am to secure his first win for over five years.
25 - JC Ritchie successfully defended his Bain’s Whisky Cape Town Open title after holing a 25-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole for a one-stroke victory at Royal Cape Golf Club.
54 - Ritchie set a new record for the lowest 54-hole total in Challenge Tour history at the Jonsson Workwear Open after posting a seven under par round of 65 to reach a staggering 25 under par following the third round at Durban Country Club, opening a ten-shot lead ahead of the final day.
2 - Ritchie has won two of the first four events on the 2022 Road to Mallorca and is currently the man in top spot on the Road to Mallorca Rankings. The South African secured victories on home soil at the Bain’s Whisky Cape Town Open and the Jonsson Workwear Open.
5 - Oliver Hundebøll entered round three of the Mangaung Open five shots off the pace but carded seven birdies and just one bogey at Bloemfontein Golf Club to secure a maiden Challenge Tour title in dramatic fashion.
61 – Jbe Kruger set a course record round of 61 in round three of the Mangaung Open at Bloemfontein Golf Club.
19 – Tom McKibbin is the youngest player to feature on the Road to Mallorca Rankings at just 19 years old. The Northern Irishman currently sits in ninth position on the Rankings after a strong start to the season, which has included a tie for third at the Bain’s Whisky Cape Town Open and a tie for seventh at the Jonsson Workwear Open.
