He may not be playing at the weekend but Rory McIlroy did give his home crowd something to cheer about on Friday. Having gone 24 holes without a bogey, the World Number One rolled in this putt on the short par three seventh hole and received a warm ovation.
It looked like the birdie may spark a comeback for the 26 year old but a double bogey on 15 ended any chance he had of making the cut. "I was trying out there as hard as I could and just couldn't quite get a good run of holes going and get any momentum," McIlroy said afterwards.
