SOS Children's Villages named Portugal Masters Official Charity

SOS Children’s Villages, a foundation which helps more than 63,000 children and young people in 133 countries worldwide, will be the Official Charity of the 2011 Portugal Masters.

The organisation’s vision is ‘a loving home for every child’ and aims to provide a supportive and protective family environment, and the initiatives planned at the Portugal Masters – along with the generosity of donators - will help make this a reality.

SOS, which has 518 Children’s Villages and 392 Youth Facilities, will benefit from a variety of activities with Genworth’s Putts4Charity being at the forefront, the initiative a partnership between Genworth, the official sponsor of The European Tour statistics programme, and the Tour Players Foundation, the charitable foundation of The European Tour.

This year the aim is to raise €45,000 at the Portugal Masters through the Putts4Charity Pro Champions’ Challenge, taking place on Wednesday evening and featuring eight top professionals competing against each other.

The Genworth Foundation, Genworth’s charitable arm, will also donate a minimum of €1 for every one-putt made by players during the 72-hole tournament at the Oceânico Victoria Golf Course.

Spectators can also join Genworth and the Tour Players Foundation in supporting SOS Children’s Villages by making a discretionary donation to take on the Champions’ Challenge at the Putts4Charity stand, located between the clubhouse and the practice putting green. This will give you the chance to win some great prizes and get your name on the overall leaderboard.

More information is available in the Welcome Pavilion and the Putts4Charity stand, and you can find out more about SOS Children’s Villages atwww.sos-childrensvillages.org.
