Shipco Masters: In Numbers

Ahead of the first Staysure Tour event on European soil in 2018, here are ten key statistics for the Shipco Masters promoted by Simon’s Golf Club.

25 – years of Simon’s Golf Club. The Danish club is celebrating its 25thanniversary since its opening tee shot was hit and will be commemorating their anniversary during the tournament.

Since its establishment, the course has held European Tour, European Challenge Tour and Ladies European Tour events during the 1990s and 2000s.

One –the Shipco Masters will be making its first appearance on the Staysure Tour’s International Schedule.

Four –former victorious Ryder Cup captains will be teeing off in Denmark. Paul McGinley captained Europe to a dominant win in 2014, Colin Montgomerie was triumphant in 2010, 2012’s Miracle in Medinah captain José María Olazábal, and 2006 winning captain Ian Woosnam will all be teeing off in Kvistgård.

2003 – Nordic Open at Simon’s Golf Club was the first European Tour event held in Denmark. It was won by Ian Poulter who carded 22 under par to claim his fifth European Tour title.

First –woman to compete in a Staysure Tour event will be Dame Laura Davies. England’s greatest female golfer will make history when she tees off this week in Denmark.

23 –miles from Simon’s Golf Club to the Danish capital Copenhagen.

6,590 – yards – the length of the course the players will battle on. The players will head to the clubhouse with back-to-back par fives on the 17thand 18thholes.

175 –yards is the shortest hole on the course – the par three 14th.

267 –was the total score for Montgomerie when he finished runner up to Poulter at the 2003 Nordic Open at Simon’s Golf Club. The Scotsman was one shot behind on 21 under par.

Four –former Staysure Tour Order of Merit winners from the last ten seasons will take part at the Shipco Masters.

Last year’s season champion Clark Dennis is joined by 2014 and 2015 winner of the John Jacobs Trophy Montgomerie, 2013 victor Paul Wesselingh, and Peter Fowler who reigned champion in 2011.
